For years, I held onto everything — grudges, fears, expectations, and plans that no longer served me. I thought letting go meant losing control.

It was during a quiet evening walk along the beach that it finally clicked. The waves kept coming, pulling sand back and pushing it forward, endlessly. Nothing was permanent. The shoreline I stood on today would be different tomorrow.

I started small. I let go of a friendship that had become toxic. I stopped replaying arguments in my head. I forgave myself for mistakes I made years ago.

Each release felt like putting down a heavy bag I had been carrying for so long I forgot it was there. The weight lifted. My shoulders dropped. I could breathe.

Letting go is not about pretending things did not happen. It is about choosing peace over pain, growth over stagnation, and the future over the past.

Today, I still catch myself holding on. But now I recognize the weight, and I know how to set it down.
