SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) sounds complicated, but the core idea is simple: help Google understand your page so it can show it to the right people.
How Google thinks
Google works like a librarian who has read every page on the internet. When you search, it finds the pages that best answer your question. Three things matter:
- Relevance — does your page match what people searched for?
- Quality — is your content helpful, accurate and trustworthy?
- Popularity — do other sites link to you? (backlinks)
The checklist that actually works
| Task | Why it matters | Effort |
|---|---|---|
| Use one clear topic per page | Helps Google understand your focus | Low |
| Put keywords in your title & headings | Signals relevance | Low |
| Write for humans first | Keep readers on your page | Medium |
| Make pages load fast | Better experience = better ranking | Medium |
| Get quality backlinks | Popularity signal | High |
One simple rule
Write the page you wish existed when you searched for that topic.
When a page genuinely helps people, links and shares follow — and that is most of SEO.
Don't start with tools.
Start with: "What question does this page answer?"
Patience is the secret
SEO is a long game. Most pages take 3–6 months to rank. If a tool promises overnight results, it is probably going to hurt you later. Stay consistent, stay helpful, and the traffic comes.
