After a decade of Windows, I switched to a Mac for a week. Here is the honest breakdown.
What was surprisingly easy
- Setup — everything just worked, almost zero driver hunting.
- Battery life — miles ahead of my old laptop.
- Trackpad gestures — I kept doing them even after switching back.
What annoyed me
- Keyboard shortcuts —
CtrlbecomesCmd, and every muscle memory breaks. - Window management — dragging a window to the edge does not snap it on macOS.
- The price — you pay a premium for the hardware.
The verdict
The best computer is the one you do the most work on — not the one with the nicest logo.
For web developers, macOS and Linux both shine because the command line just works. For general users, either operating system is fine. It comes down to your budget and your workflow.
Great for: developers, creators, battery life

I went back to Windows — but I imported a few Mac habits that genuinely improved my workflow.
