AI can produce marketing copy in seconds. The trap is that most of it sounds the same, and "the same" is invisible. Here is how to use it without your brand disappearing into the average.

Start with your voice, not the tool

Before you prompt anything, write down how you sound in three lines. Do you use contractions? Short sentences? Humour or none? AI can only match a voice you can describe.

Use AI for structure, you for meaning

Let AI draft the skeleton: headings, order, a rough version of each section. Then rewrite it in your voice. The draft is scaffolding, not the building.

The prompt that keeps your voice

  • Give the AI examples of your existing writing.
  • Tell it your audience and the tone in plain words.
  • Ask for three versions, then combine the best parts yourself.

Edit out the tells

AI copy has tics. Watch for:

  • "In today's fast-paced world" and other filler openers.
  • Every sentence the same length.
  • Vague claims with no specifics.
  • Relentless positivity.

Cut them and the copy immediately sounds more human.

Where AI genuinely helps marketing

  • Turning one idea into ten social posts.
  • Writing first drafts of ad variations to test.
  • Summarising research and customer feedback.
  • Adapting tone for different channels.

Common questions

Does AI-generated marketing content hurt my brand?

Only if it is generic and unedited. Used as a first draft and rewritten in your voice, it saves time without flattening your identity.

How do I keep my brand voice when using AI?

Describe your voice, give the AI samples of your writing, and rewrite every draft yourself. The voice lives in your editing, not the prompt.

Will Google penalise AI-written content?

Google ranks usefulness, not authorship. Thin, unhelpful AI content underperforms; well-edited AI-assisted content is fine.

Can AI write better ads than a person?

AI is good at producing variants to test. A person still decides which ones fit the brand and which claims are safe to make.
