Finding Joy in Small Things

I spent years chasing big milestones — the promotion, the house, the vacation. Each time I reached one, the excitement faded quickly, and I was already chasing the next thing.
Then one Tuesday, I noticed something. I was sitting on my balcony, drinking tea, watching a cat stretch in the sunlight on the roof across the street. And I felt genuinely happy.
Not because anything special was happening. Just because the tea was warm, the sun was out, and the moment was perfect as it was.
That was when I realized I had been looking for happiness in all the wrong places. It was not in the achievements. It was in the spaces between them.
Now I notice the good stuff. The smell of fresh bread. A stranger holding the door. The sound of rain on the roof. A good laugh with a friend.
Big goals are still important. But they are no longer the source of my happiness. The small things are.
