Every Sunday morning, the smell of cardamom and cinnamon would drift through the house. That meant Grandma was in the kitchen.

She never used measuring cups. A pinch of this, a handful of that. "Cooking is about feeling, not numbers," she would say, waving her wooden spoon like a conductor's baton.

Her hands told stories. The scar on her left thumb from a knife slip in 1978. The flour permanently dusted into the lines of her palms. Every wrinkle was a chapter of a life well-lived.

I learned more in that kitchen than any classroom. I learned patience — waiting for the dough to rise. I learned generosity — she always made enough for neighbors. I learned that food is love made visible.

Grandma passed away two years ago. But every time I step into my kitchen and cook her recipes, she is right there with me. In the smell of cardamom. In the warmth of the oven. In the love I put on the table for my own family.
