My dearest girl,

You are only five years old, and already you have taught me more about love than I ever thought possible. I want to write this letter now, before the world gets loud and you start believing you need to be anything other than yourself.

You do not need to be perfect. You do not need everyone to like you. You do not need to have all the answers. You just need to be kind — to others and to yourself.

There will be days when things feel hard. When friends let you down. When you fail at something you worked hard for. On those days, I want you to remember this: you are allowed to feel sad, but you are not allowed to give up on yourself.

Be curious. Ask questions. Make mistakes. Laugh loudly. Dance in the kitchen. Read books under the covers with a flashlight.

And always, always know that no matter what happens, you have a home in my heart that nothing can ever take away.

Love, Mum
